The Omaha Kendo & Iaido Kyokai began as a small practice group in 1999 under the leadership of Steven Sasaki. By 2000, the OKIK had joined the Southwest Kendo & Iaido Federation (SWKIF), and the All United States Kendo Federation (AUSKF)

Kendoka (kendo practitioners) meet for weekly keiko (practice sessions) in the gym at Omaha's Camelot Community Center, and at Benson Community Center.

Iaidoka (iaido practitioners) meet for Saturday practice at Camelot Community Center.
